As if conjured by the mist, a lady emerged over the lake's surface. Her pale blue dress rippled in the breeze, her hair blowing softly. She set out toward them, her feet barely touching the water's surface, leaving tiny circles where she stepped.
Arthur stood watching, mesmerised.
"Who is that?" he whispered.
"The Lady of the Lake," Merlin replied. "She has her palace at the bottom of this lake. It is a place of enchantment and wonder that no living person has ever seen. In her possession is a sword like no other."
